Cognitive Assessments Australia
Comprehensive psychological assessments, treatment, and ADHD coaching - in Melbourne, Brisbane, and via Telehealth nationwide.
At Cognitive Assessments Australia, we help children, adolescents, and adults find the clarity and support they need to understand their minds and thrive in their lives.

Whether you are seeking answers through a comprehensive psychological assessment, ongoing support through therapy, or practical strategies through ADHD coaching or our Autism Skills training program - our experienced team is here to guide you every step of the way.
We are proudly neuro-affirming in everything we do. That means we see every brain as unique, and every person who walks through our door - or joins us online - as deserving of care that is tailored to them, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
We are excited to welcome Melbourne Psychologists to the CAA family, expanding our team and our capacity to support even more individuals and families across Australia.

Our services are available from our clinics in Melbourne, Brisbane, or via secure Telehealth nationwide - with no current waitlist.
Meet our founder, Kerrin Danswan
Kerrin founded Cognitive Assessments Australia with a clear purpose - to create a practice where every person who walks through the door feels genuinely understood, not just assessed.

With over a decade of experience as a Clinical Psychologist, Kerrin has worked across diverse settings including private practice, government, and forensic psychology, giving her a depth of insight that few clinicians can match. She brings that breadth of experience to every client she works with, whether she is supporting a young child navigating school difficulties or an adult finally seeking answers after years of uncertainty.
Alongside her assessment work, Kerrin has a deep passion for psychological therapy. She works with adolescents and adults across a wide range of presentations, including anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and the unique challenges that come with being neurodivergent in a world not always designed for you. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and deeply human - she meets every client exactly where they are.

Kerrin is committed to neuro-affirming practice in everything she does. She believes that understanding how a person's brain work and communicating that clearly and compassionately can be genuinely life-changing.

Our Services
Our psychologists provide evidence-based individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of presentations including anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, grief, burnout, and school refusal. Drawing on CBT, ACT, and DBT-informed approaches, treatment is always tailored to the individual - not a generic program. Our neuro-affirming approach means therapy is designed to work with your brain, not against it.
01.
Our comprehensive autism assessments use the gold-standard ADOS-2 tool to provide an accurate, thorough evaluation for children and adults. Whether you are seeking clarity for your child or answers for yourself as an adult, our neuro-affirming approach ensures the process feels supportive and respectful from start to finish. A detailed written report with practical recommendations is provided following every assessment.
02.
Neuropsychological assessments evaluate how the brain is functioning across key areas including memory, attention, processing speed, language, and executive functioning. They are used to identify the cognitive impact of conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Results provide a clear picture of cognitive strengths and difficulties, and inform targeted support and intervention planning.
03.
Our ADHD assessments combine standardised testing, clinical interviews, and validated rating scales to provide a thorough and accurate evaluation for children, adolescents, and adults, including the inattentive and late-identified presentations that are commonly missed. For those who already have a diagnosis, our ADHD coaching program provides practical, skills-focused strategies to improve attention, organisation, planning, and daily functioning. Together, assessment and coaching offer a complete pathway from answers to action.
04.
Cognitive assessments evaluate intellectual abilities including reasoning, memory, processing speed, and problem-solving to build a comprehensive picture of how an individual thinks and learns. For children, they can identify giftedness, intellectual disability, or learning challenges that may be affecting school performance. For adults, they provide valuable insights for vocational planning, NDIS applications, or understanding changes in cognitive functioning.
05.
Learning disorder assessments identify specific difficulties in reading, writing, mathematics, and other areas of academic functioning that cannot be explained by intelligence alone. We assess for dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and related conditions across children and adults - including those who have reached adulthood without ever receiving a formal diagnosis. Our reports include clear, practical recommendations for schools, universities, workplaces, and exam providers.
06.
Educational assessments provide a broad evaluation of a student's cognitive, academic, behavioural, and emotional functioning to build a comprehensive picture of how they are learning and developing. Unlike learning disorder assessments, which focus specifically on identifying conditions such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, educational assessments take a wider view — measuring strengths alongside challenges, and capturing the emotional and behavioural factors that shape a child's experience at school. Results inform Individual Education Plans, school support strategies, and referrals to other services where appropriate.
07.
Behavioural assessments help identify the underlying factors contributing to challenging or concerning behaviour in children and adolescents. Rather than viewing behaviour as a problem to be managed, our approach seeks to understand what the behaviour is communicating - whether that is an unmet need, a neurodevelopmental difference, or an emotional difficulty. Results inform practical strategies for parents, schools, and allied health teams.
08.
Forensic assessments are specialist psychological evaluations conducted for legal and court-related purposes. Kerrin brings extensive experience across forensic settings, providing assessments that meet the rigorous standards required for use in legal proceedings. These assessments are conducted with the same commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and care that underpins everything we do at CAA.
09.
Standardised personality and diagnostic assessments provide valuable insights into an individual's personality structure, emotional functioning, and mental health presentation. They are used to support clinical formulation, inform treatment planning, and provide the diagnostic clarity needed to guide meaningful and effective support. Our clinicians use a range of validated tools across clinical, forensic, medico-legal, and occupational contexts.
Who we help

Children (age 4-12)
We support children and their families in understanding why school feels hard, why behaviour is challenging, or why your child seems different from their peers. Our assessments identify what is happening beneath the surface, and our therapy and coaching provide the practical support to help your child thrive.

Adolescents (13-18)
The teenage years bring unique pressures: academically, socially, and emotionally. We work with adolescents navigating learning difficulties, ADHD, anxiety, depression, identity questions, and the challenges of neurodivergence in a school environment. Assessment, therapy, and coaching are all available.

Adults (Age 19+)
Whether you are seeking a long-overdue diagnosis, support for your mental health, or practical strategies for daily life, we are here. Many of our adult clients come to us having spent years without answers - and leave with the clarity, understanding, and support they needed all along.
